SFB PolyEthylene Freezer Spacers (PEFS) are uniquely designed to offer many advantages over other spacers. PEFS are cost competitive with wood spacers and are available in different sizes, colors and gauges to meet your individual needs. PEFS provide efficient air flow, are maintenance free, lightweight, easily sanitized, and require less space than alternative spacers.

Standard (Egg Crate) Design
This design was invented and developed by SFB in 1970. It is regarded as the industry standard when referring to freezer spacers. It provides 5-way vertical/horizontal air flow and has excellent cold conductivity, thereby reducing the average freezing time by up to 17% when compared to wood. A 6-foot high area can accommodate 25 wood spacers, 36 aluminum spacers, or 400 standard design PEFS. This design is available in both medium duty and heavy duty, depending upon the desired weight capacity. The normal size for this design is 40" x 48", but different sizes are available upon request. All of our spacers are available with the CureSlip option.

  • Medium Duty
    • Weight - approximately 4 lbs
    • Capacity - 1800 lbs
    • Height - 1.25"
  • Heavy Duty
    • Weight - approximately 5 lbs
    • Capacity - 3600 lbs
    • Height - 1.25"

Maxi Design
This design was invented and developed by SFB in 1992. It provides 3 times more air flow than our standard spacer, resulting in an average freezing time reduction of up to 25% when compared to our standard design. A 6-foot high area can accommodate 200 Maxi PEFS. The normal size for this design is 40" x 48". All of our spacers are available with the CureSlip option.

  • Heavy Duty
    • Weight - approximately 7 lbs
    • Capacity - 3600 lbs
    • Height - 2.25"

The CureSlip Option
CureSlip is an optional treatment on all our PEFS designed to minimize box slippage during pallet transport. It was developed by SFB in conjunction with leading food processors and refrigerated warehouses. Benefits include:

  • Minimized box slippage during pallet transport
  • Meets FDA regulations for food packaging applications
  • Will not flake or wear off, thereby eliminating contamination concerns
  • Smooth surface minimizes the accumulation of bacteria and other contaminants
  • Maintains tight nestability which minimizes storage requirements
